Véronique Martin-Place

I love books, notebooks, white sheets of paper or lined ones, pens, ballpoint pens, fountain pens, pencils, colored pencils. I have always one with me! Reading, writing and drawing are my cornerstones.

How did I become a writer?

After having lived all around the world with my family (Norway, Sri Lanka, USA, China), I have been living in the Nantes area, in France, my home country. When I was little, I liked very much to play with my pens, pencils and brushes. While growing up, I put aside my creative passion to study Political Science, get a PhD and teach. But my passion for books and writing was still there. In 2008, when I moved to the US, I decided to give much more space to this passion. I trained to creative writing and children book illustration at the School of Art Institute of Chicago. I got back out my creative kit to write, create and tell stories. I also take this opportunity to read, read and read more.Since then I have been developing a creative sphere towards children and young teenagers. I write picture books and children novels whose topics are varied but always allow to travel and discover the world. Wherever I go, I always have a book, a notebook and pens in my bag.Today, my goals are to create and write books, keep teaching and passing on my knowledges and skills.
